Host Anita Brick of the CareerCast podcast, sits down with Julie Cropp Gareleck, CEO, entrepreneur, and author of Dare to Become: From Corner Booth to Corner Office, to receive a fresh perspective to guide those on their entrepreneurial path.
As the episode progresses Julie answers questions from University of Chicago alumni and current students interested in learning more about potential risks with starting a business, top things needed to be successful, discipline, and navigating toxic work environments. She shares that it was important to her to “listen, learn, and take it all in.” And more importantly shares the importance of executing every single day.
When asked about how she manages being a CEO and a mom, Julie shares that “my greatest accomplishments are my children. It was definitely a hard road to have them and a hard road once they came. I had to learn how to be a wife, mom, and a CEO,” comments Julie. “I set a very clear boundary. I try to do the best that I can. And I try my best regardless of what I’m in, knowing that I will fail sometimes.”
Anita shares how inspiring the story is and appreciates the authentic nature of the book.
